Family Therapy

Our therapists help individuals and families resolve crises, enrich family functioning, enhance parenting, and help manage difficult life events, challenges and transitions. All families go through periods of difficulty and stress.  It can feel painful, stressful, overwhelming, and if we're being honest with each other, disappointing.  It's easy to scroll through social media feeds and see smiling, happy faces of "everyone else" functioning in apparent bliss, fun vacations, no worries, no tantrums, no sulking faces glued to handheld games or phones. The truth is, you are not alone in your experience.

If your family is struggling with challenging behaviors, difficult transitions, or one-time tragic event, the most important thing you can do is invest time in the process, with the help of a non-judgmental professional.  Family therapy will start with learning and understanding your particular family patterns and ways of coping.  Along the way, we will work on strategies to build trust and improve communication. Not all family sessions involve all members of the family at the same time.  Some sessions include all members, some might be with one or two members.  Every family dynamic and need is unique.

An important thing to keep in mind as you go through the process, is that all members of a family rely on and react to the others, so everyone's story and voice is important.  Therapists do not take sides and aim to ensure everyone feels seen and understood. We respect and encourage everyone's voice and participation in the process.
